Ali Ritter, J.D.
Patent Attorney
Ali leads NW Venture Law’s patent Prosecution practice where she is responsible for advising clients on intellectual property matters, especially patent, trademark, and copyright issues.
Ali began her career in computer networks and software engineering where she worked with databases and mobile phone interfaces. She has also worked in the medical device field, where she helped analyze competitors’ intellectual property and worked with engineers to protect inventions. She is an active committee member of the University of Washington’s Institutional Review Board, a group that oversees biomedical research involving risk to human subjects. Her hobbies include skiing, cycling, and climbing, and she is passionate about working with inventors in the outdoor industry.
Ali earned her Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law and her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of North Texas. She was a teaching assistant for the University of Washington’s Center for Advanced Study and Research on Intellectual Property (CASRIP) in 2006, and she continues to attend a number of science and law courses. While she was an undergraduate, she earned minors in Economics, Computer Science, and German Literature. Like many of her colleagues, Ali has traveled and lived all over the world. She is fluent in English and Swedish.
